Garden is not a tipping hotspot
Sir I read with great interest the article appearing in your last publication concerning the proposed new takeaway storage shed at The Dales in West Hallam, and in particular Mr Kumar's allegation concerning fly tipping on the site.
I have lived opposite the proposed site for nearly forty years and to the best of my knowledge there has never been one incidence of fly tipping.
Furthermore the skip which was located on the car park recently was used only by the builders for the disposal of rubbish from what was the old Indian takeaway shop.
After completion of the Dales complex the piece of land in question was left covered in builders' rubbish and local esquires failed to establish its ownership. This fact is almost certainly included in the minutes' of the Parish Council as several parishioners attended a meeting to discuss this matter.
As a consequence, the previous occupant of Peter Lilley's house organised a working party to clear up the site, with which I and several other neighbours assisted.
Thereafter it was planted with some shrubs and generally kept tidy. When Peter and Jean became resident they put in a considerable effort to facilitate further improvement with which they have continued to date.
I only hope that they may now continue with the maintenance of what has now become a well landscaped little garden and considerably enhances the village scene.
