Youngsters who have kindly donated to the Arena church’s Food Bank have formed a Community Champion Choir which is performing this Sunday.
The choir is the final part of a four-month project children from Cotmanhay Junior School and Granby Junior School have been taking part in in conjunction with Ilkeston police.
PCSO RObert Webb, who has organised the community champion initiative, said it was aimed at getting the kids to contribute to their communities.
The pupils got together to donate food to the Food Bank, which runs from the Arena Church in Ilkeston and is supported by the Ilkeston Advertiser.
Granby School held a Bean to School Day and collected 300 tins of beans for the Food Bankt which provides food parcels for those most in need within our community.
A total of 60 pupils from both schools come together to perform as one choir at the community day at the Arena Church in RUtland Street on Sunday when they will perfrom Rihanna’s We Found Love in a Hopeless Place.
PCSO Webb added: “We hope to see as many people there as possible to support the good work that our local young people have been doing, they are well deserving of this recognition.”
