I’d like to thank the Ilkeston Advertiser for helping to promote our Live and Local concerts over the past five years. Despite your help we struggle to attract local people. I feel the need to appeal to local people, especially in Cotmanhay, to join our endeavour.
As a group of volunteers, it is our aim to regenerate community spirit, provide excellent value for money, truly professional entertainment, and use all surplus monies for the benefit of local children. I’ve never believed in begging for money and we are not a charity.
On Saturday, November 12, we have a five-piece professional Warwickshire based band, ‘Lament’. They will perform their own unique style of Latin American music. Blending gypsy, Latin and flamenco grooves with Arabic, Cuban, Salsa and Brazilian Bossa Nova flavours. They have performed on BBC radio, produced two CD’s, and appeal to all ages. They also have a lovely lady vocalist, Kath Kimber.
We have kept our ticket prices to the absolute minimum, such that we need to sell most of the tickets to cover the cost of the event. As volunteers, we pay for our own tickets, provide raffle prizes, and all refreshments out of our own pockets.
Now we need you. Come and join us at Cotmanhay and Shipley Church Hall. Doors open at 6.45pm and the concert starts at 7.30pm. If you wish to pay on the door, please come early.
Ticket prices are, £7 adult, £6 OAP, and £5 for under 16s.
