Young female footballers from Erewash schools competed against each other in two tournaments.

The first of the tournaments, run by Erewash School Sport Partnership, saw Shardlow Primary and two teams from Hallam Fields Junior School competing at Kirk Hallam Community Academy.

Hallam Fields’ pink team were crowned the winners.

The other competition saw Chaucer Junior, Dovedale Primary, Cloudside Junior, Ashbrook Junior and Sawley Junior compete at Friesland School in Sandiacre.

Chaucer Junior were the overall winners closely followed in second place by Sawley Junior and the Fair Play award went to Ashbrook Junior.

Rhian Lilley, Erewash School Sport Partnership development manager, said the girls thoroughly enjoyed taking part.

She said: “These were two great tournaments which really showcased the footballing talent that there is among the young girls in Erewash.”
