DRIVERS in Ilkeston are demanding the return of hundreds of pounds worth of parking fines they were charged despite having valid tickets.
Motorists also want to see sticky backs for pay and display tickets back in council parking meters to stop other people who have paid for parking being fined.
After a story on February 23 the ‘Tiser has been inundated with calls from drivers who paid for parking but were still fined when their tickets ended up face down on the dashboard.
All of the drivers have said they placed the ticket the right way up and having a sticker to secure it in place would have stopped them being fined £25 or £50.
This week we asked the council why fines were issued to drivers with valid tickets and why the tickets no longer have sticky backs.
