A GRANDFATHER, who fell at his Ilkeston home, died from natural causes in hospital days later, an inquest heard this week.
Frank Gutteridge was found by grandson Ian Gutteridge at his Amberley Close home, having lost his balance walking without his frame on September 5 last year, the court heard on Thursday.
He was taken to Royal Derby Hospital where he was found to have two broken legs.
The 85-year-old, who suffered from diabetes, chronic kidney disease and the effects of polio, among other illnesses, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on September 16.
Dr Gurpit Atwal, who performed a post mortem on Mr Gutteridge said that, given his medical history the fall was not a direct factor in his death.
Deputy coroner at Derby Coroners’ Court Louise Pinder gave a verdict of natural causes.
