GREEN groups and organisations are being urged to apply for community cash to help cover the cost of environment-related projects.

Greenwatch Action Grants worth up to £500 will be handed out by Derbyshire County Council for projects like allotments, nature conservation and environmental education projects as well as local recycling and energy-saving schemes.

Natural history groups, schools, community groups and parish councils can all apply for the cash.

Interested groups and organisations should submit applications by February 24 and successful bids will receive their grants before the end of March.

Application forms can be downloaded at the community and living, funding and grants section of www.derbyshire.gov.uk or by calling 08456 058 058.
