Curves gym in Ilkeston has continued its tradition of supporting charity Breast Cancer Care with a campaign to raise funds and awareness.

Sally Peacock, owner of the gym on Awsworth Road, said: “There is more to this campaign than raising money although obviously that’s an important part.

“We are in the business of women’s health so raising awareness of risk and the importance of early detection forms an important part of our goal.

“We were delighted to be supported by all the local schools and nurseries who sent our themed newsletter home containing information from the Breast Cancer Care charity and all the local businesses who helped to share the information.

“In addition our team and members have collected over £500 for Breast Cancer Care which is just fantastic.

“We have collected over 17kg’s of bras via our recycling project which will also be turned into cash for the charity.

“Everyone has shown amazing support.”

The efforts forms part of an international fund raising campaign by Curves which has resulted in over £400,000 being collected for breast cancer charities in England and Wales alone since it began in 2005.
