A NEWLY refurbished hair salon raised cash for a local animal charity when it opened its doors to clients after a revamp.

Pam’s Beauty Studio, on East Street, collected cash and tins of dog food for Babington Kennels and prepared to hand over the donation to the Awsworth charity this week.

Chelsea Etienne, stylist and salon manager, said: “We collect the dog food and raise money for the kennels every year but this year we wanted to tie it in with the reopening of the salon after the refurbishment.

“As always our customers have been really generous with their donations.”

The relaunch was part of a double celebration for the business after it marked its 25th anniversary in Ilkeston.

Chelsea, whose mum owns the salon, added: “It’s brilliant that after all this time the business is still going strong.

“It’s all thanks to the support of local people and loyal customers.”
