Firefighters and police officers have launched a joint investigation after a fire at Pharoah’s Health club.

The club’s owner, who gave his name as Fitz, told the Advertiser: “The rumours are that it was petrol bombed but I’m waiting to see what the police say about it.

“I was at work at the time so don’t know what happened.

“Police are looking at CCTV and will know more after that.”

Firefighters were called to the Granby Street premises at around 4.30am on Sunday November 17.

Crews from Ilkeston and Heanor responded and had to use breathing apparatus as they battled the flames.

A smashed front window could be seen as investigators were working at the scene on Sunday morning.

The club has since been boarded up.
