THE NUMBER of obese children in Erewash has risen for another year, an NHS report has revealed.

In 2007/08, 17.5 per cent of kids aged 10 and 11 were recorded as obese, compared to 18.3 per cent in 2008/9.

But the same annual public health report has found that people in the borough are less likely to die from cancer, heart disease or strokes compared to ten years ago.

Ilkeston North had the lowest life expectancy in the borough at 74 for men, while Nottingham Road in Long Eaton had the highest proportion of obese children at about 29 per cent.
