Ilkeston’s first ever food and drink fair takes place on Sunday.

The event, organised by Carol and Gordon Pringle from the Rutland Cafe, takes place between 10am and 4pm on Sunday at Ilkeston Rugby Club in Hallam Fields Road.

Carol said: “The list of exhibitors is very exciting and we now have over 24 of the finest artisan food producers from in and around our area.

“We have Caribbean food from 63 Islands, wood fired pizza ovens, and a hog roast from Oakfield farm shop. “Joining the hot food exhibitors are The Picnic Basket a mobile catering trailer which quirkily looks just like a picnic basket and Elegant China Hire will be bringing Elsie, a vintage caravan and serving afternoon tea.”

The Deputy Mayoress, Val Custance, will be opening the food fair at 10am and there will be live music starting at 11am with Rob from The Burgundys.

There will also be alcoholic cupcakes from Tiddly Cupcakes, cheese from the Cheese Factor and chutneys, pickles and jams from Cottage Garden Foods based in Derby and Julie’s Pickles and Preserves.

Visitors to the food fair will be treated to a variety of music and dance. Contemporary dance group Ignite, from Vibez Danceworks in Long Eaton will perform at 12.30pm.

String quartet Vivo will join Rob from The Burgandys. The Burgandys play around 200 gigs each year.
