Home plea for homeless

LANDLORDS are being asked by the council if they are interested in leasing properties to use as temporary accommodation for the homeless.

Erewash Borough Council is seeking one- and two-bedroom properties in the Erewash area as it says it has a statutory duty to provide temporary accommodation for people who find themselves in difficulties.

It has to find homes for people who have a priority need, for example if they have children or are vulnerable.

Cllr Carol Hart, the authority’s lead member for community engagement, said: “Temporary accommodation is so valuable to these people and helps them through upsetting times until they find a permanent home.”

Anyone interested in leasing to the council should call senior housing options officer Leah Clarke on 0845 907 2244 ext 3592.
