A warehouse assistant at Risley’s Treetops Hospice has had a brush with fame after finding an antique magazine.

Martin Cook, 53, found a first edition of Jackie while sorting through goods which had donated to the Derby Road charity recently.

He was so impressed with his find he took it for a valuation to BBC One’s Antiques Roadshow.

Martin, from Stapleford, attended the recording of the show at Newstead Abbey on June 14 and was picked to be filmed alongside presenter Fiona Bruce.

He went with wife Karen, the charity’s bereavement support services manager, and mother-in-law Chris Hawkins.

The magazine includes full colour pin-ups of Cliff Richard, Elvis, Billy Fury and The Beatles, perfume tips ‘for a more kissable you’ and ‘dreamy pictures and love stories’.

The show’s expert valued the magazine at between £200 and £300.

Look out for the episode, due to be shown this autumn.
