Plans to build seven new houses in Stanley Common have been given the green light by the planning committee of Erewash Borough Council.
The two-storey houses will be built on a cul-de-sac off Belper Road at the site of a former nursery.
The development was welcomed by councillors on the planning committee at a meeting on June 26.
Councillor Howard Griffiths said that it would be beneficial to get the site developed. He said: “I think this is a very good site for this kind of development. It is relatively sustainable.”
There were some concerns over the state of trees and hedges at the site. Councillor Valerie Cunstance said: “Having visited the site today it’s in a terrible mess but whatever is built there will improve it.”
Councillors approved the plans on the condition that a landscaping scheme is submitted.
The application had received eight letters of objection from residents over issues such as impact on levels of privacy. The plans were amended as a result.
