Huge investment in broadband access

A £47.67m investment into better broadband in Ilkeston and further afield has been welcomed.

D2N2 – the Local Enterprise Partnership for Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire – welcomed contracts signed with BT by Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire county councils to bring fibre broadband available to tens of thousands more premises.

D2N2 chairman Peter Richardson said: “We have heard many examples, from guest houses in rural areas to farmers, highlighting the need for access to broadband. For their business, superfast broadband is now crucial and the importance of this cannot be underestimated.”
