These are the latest cases to be heard at Derby Magistrates’ Court.

Drink-driver

Russell Naylor, aged 48, of Haddon Nurseries, Ilkeston, pleaded guilty to drink-driving. He had 105 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35. He was banned from driving for two years and must carry out 120 hours unpaid work. He will pay £85 costs to the CPS and a £60 surcharge.

Fishing fine

Adam Willets, aged 25, of Morley Lane, Stanley, pleaded guilty, under the Salmon and Freshwater Fisheries Act, to fishing or taking fish otherwise than in accordance with a licence by means of a rod and line. He was fined £93, will pay costs of £127 and pay a £20 surcharge.

No ticket

Emma Wile, aged 37, of Granville Avenue, Long Eaton, was fined £220 for travelling on a train between St Pancras and Long Eaton without a valid ticket. The charge was proved in her absence. She will also pay compensation of £28.50, costs of £135 and a £22 surcharge.

Assault

Robert Biggs, aged 24, of Hickings Lane, Stapleford, was convicted of an assault on a woman and damaging a car. He was fined £500 and will pay a £50 victim surcharge and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.



Jason Cole, aged 28, of Petersham Road, Long Eaton, pleaded guilty to using threatening words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress. He was made subject to a restraining order, fined £200, will pay £85 to the CPS and a £20 surcharge.

Drugs

Mark Bestwick, aged 47, of Critchley Street, Ilkeston, pleaded guilty to three charges relating to possession and supply of class B drugs. He was handed a 20 week jail term, suspended for 18 months and must obey a curfew.

Michael Geehan, aged 35, of Critchley Street, Ilkeston, pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis. He was fined £80, will pay a £20 surcharge and £85 to the CPS.


Carl Vest, aged 33, of Wyvern Avenue, Long Eaton, pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine. He was fined £200, will pay a £20 surcharge and £85 to the CPS.

Damage

Brett Trueman, aged 27, of Vicarage Avenue, Ilkeston, pleaded guilty to assault and damaging a mobile phone worth £600. A community order was made and he will carry out 120 hours unpaid work.


Aaron Beckford, aged 30, of Trowel Grove, Long Eaton, pleaded guilty to damaging a cooker valued at £200, smashing two windows, causing £200 worth of damage and a slow cooker smashed valued at £30. He was handed a community order including a drug rehabilitation requirement and 40 hours unpaid work. He will pay compensation of £430, a £60 surcharge and costs of £85.



Brett Smedley, aged 25, of Cramner Street, Long Eaton, pleaded guilty to damaging a door and frame. He was handed a community order and will carry out 80 hours unpaid work. He will pay compensation of £400.

No insurance

Reece Canning, aged 21, of Peveril Cressent, Long Eaton, pleaded guilty to three charges including driving without due care and attention and having no insurance or MOT. Eight points were added to his licence. He was fined £280.

The following people were fined for using a TV without a license:

Cheryl James, aged 29, of Ash Street, Ilkeston: Fined £120, surcharge £20, costs £120.


Shannon O’Keefe, aged 24, of Albany Street, Ilkeston. Fined: £40, surcharge £20, costs £120.

Theft

Robert Spiby, aged 55, of Clarence Road, Long Eaton, pleaded guilty to stealing step ladders from Home Bargains. He was given a 12 month conditional discharge and will pay compensation of £16.99.

Gareth Moyes, aged 36, of Norman Street, Ilkeston, pleaded guilty to stealing razor blades from Wilkinson. He was given a 12 month conditional discharge. He will pay £100 in court costs.

Speeding

Jason White, aged 45, of New Street, Stanley, was charged with driving at 61mph in a 50mph zone. The charge was proved in his absence. He was fined £92 and three points were added to his licence. He will pay costs of £85 and a £20 surcharge.

Anna Haracz, aged 30, of Peveril Drive, Ilkeston, pleaded guilty to driving at 62mph in a 50mph zone. Three points were added to her licence and she was fined £100.
