A men’s clothing store that began as an online venture has benefitted from a grant to spruce up the shop front.

Eighty Eight, on Nottingham Road, is owned by Ilkeston brothers Ashley and Scott Allen. The business takes its name from the year that Ashley , 26, was born.

Ashley said: “We started online last April and then started selling clothes in Deakin and White barbers. We got the shop in the middle of November and applied for a grant from Erewash Borough Council to do the shop front up.”

The £1,000 grant has enabled them to buy shop-front signs to attract shoppers .

Eighty Eight sells designer men’s clothing such as Luke 1977, and Farah, with new brand Weekend Offender due in stock soon.

In June they will also stock Liam Gallagher’s label Pretty Green.

Ashley said: “Apparently my grandad used to wear trousers with the brands we sell when he was younger.”

Eighty Eight stocks T-shirts, trainers, hoods and sweats, polo shirts, vests, bags and belts.
