Now we have the Co-op in Ilkeston town centre closing, what next?
We will have no decent shoe shop and only one decent furniture shop. Where on earth are we supposed to shop? When the relief road was started, I wrote to the Advertiser and said Ilkeston would become a ghost town. Altering Bath Street didn’t help and having no buses going up andd down hasn’t helped either. To the people who shop online, don’t you realise that this doesn’t help shops to stay open? Also, going shopping is a sociable pastime. Can’t we have a petition and help to keep the Co-op open? If something isn’t done to help Ilkeston thrive, we might as well take the town off the map.
Mrs B Matthews,
East Street, Ilkeston.
