A year after being crowned Emerging Designer of the Year, Ilkeston’s Michael Wallace returned to Birmingham for the Midlands Fashion Awards 2015 to dazzle the catwalk with his latest designs.
The fashion designer was invited back to the ceremony, at the CBSO Centre on October 16, as a designer guest to display his latest work, some of which has already been seen on catwalks at London Fashion Week and in LA.
The award ceremony is now in its seventh year and recognises the wealth of fashion design talent across the Midlands region.
The 25-year-old and owner of The House of Michael Wallace said: “It was a real honour to be invited back to the Midlands Fashion Awards this year and I really enjoyed the opportunity to show off my latest designs.
“The awards are a fantastic way to promote the abundance of talent across the Midlands and the organisers should take great pride in the night itself as everyone had a fantastic time and the pieces on show were amazing.
“I would like to say a huge well done to all of the winners, as I know what a fantastic feeling it is and I hope to see them return next year to see all of their fantastic new designs as I’m sure they’re going to have fantastic careers.”
Since winning the award last year, Michael’s fashion CV has continued to grow as he was invited to display his work at this year’s London Fashion Week for the House of iKons following a successful show in Los Angeles where he displayed his wedding collection on Valentine’s Day this year.
Michael, who is thinking of going back next year for the Independent Designer Award added: “It’s been a fantastic year and once again, I might not be able to have visited the places I’ve been if it wasn’t for the Midlands Fashion Award last year.
“The aim is to be able to display my designs across the world and become a well-known name, which is starting to happen across the UK. The feeling of seeing people wearing my designs is indescribable and I can only hope that in another year’s time, we will be having even greater success.”
