The scene of the murder in Canal Street, Ilkeston

Detectives investigating the murder of a man in Ilkeston have arrested four suspects.

Two men, aged 26 and 24, have been arrested on suspicion of murder while a 26-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder.

The four, who were arrested yesterday, remain in police custody and are being questioned.

Police were called to a house in Canal Street following a report of a disturbance at around 9pm on Wednesday January 30.

A 48-year-old victim, who has been named locally as dad-of-six Mick Moss, was found injured inside the house and despite treatment by paramedics, he later died.

A post mortem examination has revealed that he died from injuries suffered during an assault. A formal identification has not yet taken place.

Forensic examinations and searches continue at the scene today.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward who saw two white men leaving the house around the time of the incident.

They are also asking people to ring in if they saw a silver vehicle in the area on the night of the murder. The two men were seen getting into the vehicle and driving off.

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
