BREAKING NEWS: Two cut from car after crash in Ilkeston

TWO people had to be cut from their car after a smash at the junction of Regent Street and Stanton Road.

Police were called to the scene at just after 12.15pm.

The Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance arrived on scene just three minutes after receiving a call but a spokesman confirmed they did not air lift any passengers.

An 82-year-old man and a younger female passenger had to be cut by firefighters from a silver Vauxhall Astra which was on its side.

They were both taken to hospital just before 2pm.

A police spokesman said the man was thought to have minor injuries but the other passenger was thought to have been more seriously injured.

The driver of a Black Honda Civic was unhurt.
