ILKESTON’s very own calendar girls have collected a whopping £3,300 to split between three charities after posing nude in a town pub.

Suzanne Burton came up with the idea that she and 10 other ladies, aged between 32 and mid-50s, would disrobe for a calendar shoot at the Dew Drop Inn last year.

She cares for her father-in-law who suffers from motor neurone disease, and her cousin Edward Jones, 16, has had congenital heart disease since birth.

As a result, the group decide to donate the calendar’s proceeds to the Motor Neurone Disease Association and British Heart Foundation.

Louise Gregory chose the third charity Cancer Research after her brother John died from stomach cancer earlier in the year aged 34, and just three months of diagnosis.

“Hopefully in the future raising money will help others and diagnose the cancer sooner,” she said.

Cheques for £1,100 have now been presented to each charity but there are a handful of calendars left to buy.
