Chance to win £10k contract
Tradesmen in Ilkeston are being offered to chance to win contracts worth up to £10,000 by adding their names to a council list of approved contractors.
Plumbers, brickies, joiners, plasterers and roofers are some of the skilled workers Erewash Borough Council is hoping will join the scheme.
From April this year between 10 and 20 small-scale contracts a year will be awarded for minor repairs and refurbishments in the Erewash area – ranging in value from a few hundred pounds to £10,000.
Cllr Geoff Smith, lead member for regenerations, said: “This will have a positive impact on employment opportunities for local people and will greatly enhance the economy of Erewash by keeping it local.”
Other services needed for the contracts list include locksmiths, floor covering, heating and ventilation, glazing, and suspended ceiling specialists.
Qualified workers are urged to register as soon as possible by emailing economicdevelopment@erewash.gov.uk or by calling Erewash Partnership, which is running the scheme, on 0115 944 3944.
There will also be a free workshop next month to give advice on completing the applications.
