Council issues cold weather advice

Derbyshire County Council has issued a warning to residents after weather experts predicted a cold snap.

Cabinet Member for public health, Cllr Carol Hart, said: “One of the main concerns we had in the severe weather last year was elderly and vulnerable people running out of food, heating oil and medication because they didn’t want to venture out, so this is somewhere we could all play an important role and be a good neighbour this winter.”

The Met Office issued a cold weather alert on Monday warning that temperatures could drop to -6C by the end of this week.
