Councillor called to hearing

Erewash Borough Council’s lead member for culture and leisure has been called to a conduct hearing over material used in political publications in the run up to the 2011 council elections.

Cllr Mike Wallis, who is also chair of the Ockbrook and Borrowash Parish Council, will appear at the hearing on February 29 after a complaint was made by the Ockbrook and Borrowash Labour Party and Steel and Shamash Solicitors, instructed by Labour’s National Executive Committee.

The scheduled hearing follows the initial discussion of the April 2011 complaints by the Erewash Council’s Standards Committee Assessment Sub-Committee. The matter was then referred to a council officer, following that an independent officer was appointed to undertake a standards investigation.
