Crime across county falls despite cuts in the force

DERBYSHIRE police have come out on top after the latest crime reduction figures were released.

Overall crime in the county fell by 5.2 per cent between April and December last year which represents 2,620 fewer offences.

Philip Hickson, chairman of Derbyshire Police Authority, said: “We continue to be impressed with the performance success achieved by the force, especially when viewed in the context of the challenging financial circumstances we have found ourselves in and the impact of these on our resources.

“Residents should be reassured by these figures that despite the economic challenges of late, the force continue to do everything possible to improve their experience of the policing service and make them safer.”
