Driver injured after assault

A BUS driver was left needing 11 staples in his head after a passenger pushed him over when he was asked to show his ticket.

The driver pulled over on Station Road, West Hallam, at around 10.30am on Saturday morning.

He asked the passenger to produce a ticket and the man reacted by pushing him to the floor.

The driver hit his head and was left with a deep cut.

He was taken to the Royal Derby Hospital for treatment.

The passenger is white, around 6ft tall and was wearing a black coat and carrying a Tesco bag at the time of the assault.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to call 101.
