Give views on crushing plant

An Ilkeston recycling firm is hoping to build a steel crushing plant on the old Stanton site – and you are being asked to give your views.

The Environment Agency has said residents have until Thursday March 21 to make their views known abiout the plan by Ward Recycling.

If granted the permit will allow the firm to treat waste from the steel industry by crushing and cover the production of soil, soil substitutes and aggregate.

An Environment Agency spokesperson said: “It is important that we obtain and consider the views of the public and key partners before we make any decision on the application.

“Communities close to the site can forward their comments on the application as part of our consultation process.

The plans can be viewed at Merlin House, Merlin Way, Ilkeston between 9.30am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday. Call 03708 506 506 to arrange an appointment.
