Firefighters spent more than 90mins rescuing a horse from a frozen canal near Stanton-by-Dale last Wednesday.

Crews from Ilkeston, Derby, Highfields and the horse rescue unit from Matlock were called out at about 2.45pm.

They lifted the animal to a safe place on the embankment where it could free itself.

They left the scene at about 4.15pm.
