Kirk Hallam gets excellent Ofsted report
Students at a Kirk Hallam college are receiving an excellent standard of education, a government report has found.
Ofsted inspectors who visited Kirk Hallam Community Technology College found 25 out of 27 areas judged at the school to be "outstanding."
In the last report three years ago the college was rated good with outstanding features.
The report states that the overall effectiveness of the school is highly effective and provides an excellent standard of education. It said: "There is an exceptionally good ethos for learning throughout the school. All staff and the students are committed to making the school special.
It adds: "Students' personal development is outstanding. They are mature and articulate and almost all behave extremely well. They are clear about the school's purpose and its values and are 'signed up' to these. Inspectors observed nothing but exemplary behaviour and the school has very good systems for supporting this."
Peter Hamer, principal at the college said: 'This is an excellent outcome for everybody connected to the college.
"This could not have been achieved without the help and support of all our partners, governors, parents, staff, students and everybody who is connected to the college.
"I was particularly pleased that Ofsted stated 'this is a school that does not stand still but at the same time does not lose sight of its key functions to raise students' achievement and help them become happy, reflective citizens'."
A new 5 million sixth form centre at the college is set for completion after Christmas.
Funding for the building came from Goverment funding for specialist schools after a sixth form was implemented at the school last year.
