Long-awaited plans for Stanton revealed

It has been five years coming but finally plans to create a huge residential and commercial development on the former Stanton Ironworks have been revealed.

A total of 1,950 homes are set to be built on the site, which closed in 2008, together with shops, restaurants, cafes, bars care homes, GP surgery and a primary school.

The development, which includes a business park, could employ more than 2,000 people and contribute an estimated £23m to the local economy, according to developers and site owners Saint-Gobain.
