'Naked' protest in Stanton-by-Dale

A campaign group has demanded the 'naked truth' from developers as a model rode like Lady Godiva through Stanton-by-Dale to protest against the Stanton redevelopment plan.

As Erewash Borough Councillors arrived for a sneak preview of developer Saint-Gobain's plans to turn the defunct ironworks into a 3,000-home village, Vicki Halsey rode past to greet them, followed by protesters.

Green Squeeze member Fiona Starbuck said: "We want to ensure neither the developer nor the council can shy away from deep concerns about this huge development and access road."

Vicki arrived in the village on horseback, styled to appear naked, and rode past developers and councillors followed by dozens of Green Squeeze protesters on Wednesday evening.

The plans are available to view publically from Thursday June 10 at 2pm.
