New £1.6m buses plan

A new fleet of buses are set to be launched in Ilkeston following a £1.6million investment.

The nine new low-emission buses have new features, including air conditioning, designer interior leather seats, and wood laminate flooring.

Erewash MP Liz Blackman will launch The Two service, which is the new name for the Rainbow 2 service, on Sunday, July 26, at Ilkeston Market Place.

Stuart Booth, brand manager at TrentBarton, said: "I think it is fantastic news for our customers and for Ilkeston and Cotmanhay.

"I'm really excited for this to happen."

The buses will run every 12 minutes along the same route as before, between Ilkeston, Cotmanhay and Nottingham.

The company is also launching a new pre-paid ticket system called the Mango which will be available to use soon.
