New outfits for county’s police officers

Example of Derbyshire police's new uniform.

Cops in Ilkeston and the rest of the county were given new uniforms last week.

Police say the new clobber ‘suits today’s policing needs’ and was picked after a consultation with staff.

The new shirt will be worn by all uniformed operational police officers and uniformed police staff within Derbyshire Constabulary.

Police officers will wear black shirts and police staff will wear blue. A small number of officers will still wear white shirts and black ties because of their role.

The change brings Derbyshire police in line with other forces across the East Midlands enabling to buy uniforms jointly with other forces saving about £3,000 a year.
