Pupils at Sandiacre’s Cloudside Junior School glimpsed a world beyond our own during a night-time stargazing event hosted by East Midlands Stargazers.

Intrepid space explorers Libby Mellors, ten and Hope Mee, nine, are pictured getting to grips with a telescope.

Cloudside spokesman Sam Grogan said: “The children were served Galaxy hot chocolate and we had really good feedback. The parents were really onto it as well.

“They looked at Jupiter, Orion’s Belt, the Seven Sisters, the Plough, Beetle Juice and a Nebula. It was a great night and we may do it again next year.”
