Terrorised in raid on house

An Ilkeston couple in their 50s were left terrorised after a group of men burgled their home while they were in.

They sneaked into the house on Caroline Court through an unlocked back door on Thursday February 28 at around 8pm.

The pair were watching TV in the lounge when the men came in and demanded money from them.

They told the couple to lie on the floor while they took cash, jewellery and electrical goods.

All of the men were either wearing balaclavas or hooded tops with scarves over their faces.

A Caroline Court resident said: “I was shocked.
“I was in all evening and I sit in an armchair near the window - so if a car comes up I normally know. But I didn’t see anything at all until the flashing blue lights came.”

Another resident said: “ It worries me because we feel safe here - it’s a quiet close.

“There are a lot of elderly people who have been here since the houses were built. I think it’s important to keep doors locked and have an alarm.”

Anyone with information should phone 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
