Two in hospital after crash

THE SOUTHBOUND carriageway of the M1 was shut for six hours after a four-vehicle crash yesterday.

There was traffic chaos after two cars and two lorries collided near Trowell services at about 12.45pm on Wednesday.

The male driver of an Iveco HGV was taken to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham with serious injuries.

The female driver of a Honda Jazz was treated at the same hospital for minor injuries.

All three lanes were shut between junctions 26 and 25 until 6.45pm causing hours of tailbacks while the road was cleared.

The northbound carriageway was also shut for a short time.

Witnesses, or anyone with any information, should call police on 101.
