Alex MacQueen has won second prize in Derby new Creatives.

A sixth-former and Saturday girl on Ilkeston market has scooped second prize in a students’ art competition

Alice Macqueen, 17, who works at the Dragonflies arts and crafts stall, submitted this stunning portrait of a market shopper to Derby University’s New Creatives scheme to win her £150 prize.

“It’s a great boost because I’m going to uni to study fine arts,” she said.
