Officers from the Larklands and Gallows Safer Neighbourhood Team are taking to the streets of their patch in Ilkeston again to meet the local residents.

The team is holding a street meet at 1pm on Saturday, May 21 on Cantelupe Road, Ilkeston and are inviting local residents to come and have a chat with them to discuss any issues that are affecting their community.

PC Simon Doar from the team explained: “We are out and about every day in the area but holding these street meets allows us to let residents know that we will be in a certain place at a certain time. This way if there is anything that people would like to discuss they can come out and meet us.

“We will be giving away various free crime prevention items and advice. There is also the opportunity to have pedal cycles marked with a unique code and details placed on the national register, this acts as a deterrent to would-be thieves.

“It follows a similar event that we held last month in Redbridge Close which we found to be very successful with lots of people coming to see us and the children loved sitting in the van and seeing how the lights and sirens worked.”
