An Ilkeston woman has opened her second cafe and hopes there are more to come.

Karen Shaw, 46, opened South Perk on South Street in Ilkeston following the success of her first cafe, West Perk, in West Park, Long Eaton.

She decided to open South Perk after she took voluntary redundancy from her job in I.T in April last year.

Karen, who has a 21-year-old son, said: “People have said to me ‘Are you going to open North Perk and East Perk? Whether I do or not it needs to be in the right location. It’s definitely a possibility.”

South Perk serves hot cobs, paninis, soups, sandwiches, cakes, and Bluebells ice cream. Everything is made fresh to order.

While the fair is in town they will open late, serving jumbo hot dogs, burgers, mushy peas, pumpkin spices lattes, and toffee apple ice cream.
