Ilkeston's Frank is sky high

PARACHUTING pensioner Frank Beardsley, 83, plummeted 10,000 feet in a sponsored skydive last week...and now he has said he wants to do it again.

However, retired Stanton worker and army veteran Frank will not be taking to the skies anytime soon as it has given him earache!

"I thought it was good - I would love to do it again," he said. "I think anybody should give it a go no matter how old."

Frank was taken up in an airplane with instructor Ally Milne of the British Parachuting School at Langar airfield last Wednesday who accompanied him for the tandem fall.

Although he did not need any training for the fall, he said that one day he would like to complete the course so he could parachute by himself.

He added: "When you're up that high it affects your hearing. I'm starting to get a bit back now."

So far Frank has raised 1,300 for Treetops Hospice in Risley and Marie Curie cancer care, who helped to look after his wife Margaret before she died from cancer last October.

He said: "We've raised a lot but we could do with a bit more. Even a few pounds will make a big difference."
