ILKESTON youngsters have learnt vital skills in the first of 100 challenges set for them this year.

A total of 13 Beavers from the 2nd Ilkeston group, aged between six and eight, earned a stage one emergency aid badge by learning the hard and fast method of CPR.

Ilkeston District Scouts, Cubs and Beavers have been set 100 challenges to complete in this the 100th year of Scouting in the town.

Now the 2nd Beavers have another 99 challenges to get through.

The group is appealing for new members aged between six and eight join the colony, which meets on Tuesday nights at the United Reform Church in, Wharnecliffe Road from 6pm to 7.15pm.
