It's time to get rid of Erewash

Sir, Certain left-wing local councillors are on about having another tier of local government. This will no doubt put more money in their pockets.

Older people in Ilkeston can remember when we had our local town council. It was called Ilkeston Borough Council. Let's return to the old Ilkeston Borough Council and ditch Erewash Borough Council, we could save a lot of money.

Erewash council is one big blood loss, over-staffed to say the least. If we return to Ilkeston Borough Council, every penny spent could be checked. A smaller unit is very easy to run and easy to control costs.

Let's face it, we have too many non-productive jobs. Get rid of those wardens and rangers who pretend they are policemen. We managed without them before, we can again.

Even if we cannot get back to Ilkeston Borough Council status, we can change things. Erewash Council should bring in experts to check every employee's job status, we pay enough without paying more for nothing.
