A dancer from Long Eaton has won a coveted place with the National Youth Dance Company in London
Jamie Buchanan, 16, is a member of the Youth Performance Academy at Derby-based dance house Déda and the Centre for Advanced Training in Nottingham.
He will spend the next 12 months working with some of the UK’s top choreographers and professional dancers in London at weekends and during school holidays – starting this October half term.
Jamie said: “The auditions in London were very nerve wracking as 500 people were competing for just 70 places. My goal is to be a professional dancer and now I am starting to believe that this hazy dream just could become a reality.”
