A £2,000 grant has helped a host of job seekers boost their skills as supermarket giant Morrisons launches its recruitment drive for the new Ilkeston superstore this week.

The Erewash Local Strategic Partnership agreed to help fund training, that is already full and underway, as part of its commitment to partnership working and its key priorities of improving the local economy and employment.

Recruitment for staff at the superstore has opened this week to all residents who can apply for full and part-time vacancies through the website gov.uk/jobsearch.

Councillor Carol Hart, chair of Erewash LSP and deputy leader of Erewash Borough Council, said: “We were very keen to help JobCentre Plus and our £2,000 grant is a clear indication of the LSP pledge to work with key organisations on important issues like job creation. This is a great example of partnership working for the benefit of the local community. I wish everyone applying for posts with Morrisons in Field Road the very best of luck.”
