The RSPCA is appealing for information after a dog was found abandoned and tied to a stile in Ilkeston.

The cross-breed dog, thought to be about 18 months old, was found near Meadow Street, off Mill Street, on the morning of September 21.

Kevin, as he has since been named, was found by a concerned caller, who contacted the RSPCA and an inspector was sent to collect him.

Inspector Nick Wheelhouse said: “Kevin is a fabulous little dog, and it is hard to understand why someone would just abandon him.”

He was taken to the RSPCA Derby and District Branch where he was cared for and has now been found a new home.

“However I am still keen to hear from anyone who may know who owns this dog and I would urge them to contact me,” added Mr Wheelhouse.
