Organisers of Kirk Hallam’s popular Lakeside Festival which takes place on Sunday July 6, will be bigger than ever.

The celebration, put on by The Friends of Kirk Hallam Lake and Meadows at the lake site off Godfrey Drive, is now in it’s fifth year.

From 12noon to 4pm, there will be a variety of animals, including ponies, parrots, reptiles and birds of prey, fairground rides, music from the Derby Serenaders and the Breaston Highlanders.

The Erewash Borough Council climbing wall will make a welcome return and there will be a hog roast and other refreshments.

There will be around 40 stalls, including some run by local charities. Entrance is free.

County councillors John Frudd and Michelle Booth have recently donated £1,000 to the group to help with the purchase of a lawnmower from their Members’ Community Leadership Fund.

Cllr Booth said: “The Friends of Kirk Hallam Lake volunteers do a fantastic job which is much appreciated by everyone who uses the beautiful area.”
