Over the past 23 years I have been a regular swimmer at the VPLC and took an active role with the Save our Swim Community Action Group (SOS) campaign in 2006/9.
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Erewash Borough Council, and in particular Councillor Mike Wallis lead member for Culture and Leisure, for having the vision and determination to invest a considerable amount of council tax money on the VPLC refurbishment.
I believe, what once was a tired building, has become a vibrant and enviable asset, for which the people of the Borough can be justly proud.
I do hope the VPLC turnstiles continue to turn during the current economic downturn and the Borough Council investment will be seen by many, as making a positive difference to the health and well being of the community.
I would also like to thank the Pool Manager Stuart Bailey and his staff for looking after the ‘Dawn Dippers’ attending the teaching pool during the main pool closure.
Good luck for a successful official launch!
