With regards to bringing deck buses into Bath Street, Ilkeston.
What short memories people have. One of the auguments for pedestrianising it was that bus, exhaust fumes were a problem.
I remember standing near to the Albion Centre and being nearly gassed by the fumes in fact even
shopkeepers were complaining that the fumes were invading the insides of their premises.
Also what about the
accidents that happened regularly if you stepped off the pavement inadvertantly.
Pedestrianisation has therefore prevented many of these problems so what surprises me is that even prospective MPs are
supporting this ludicrous folly. But I suppose that this can only be expected.
So why don’t they talk to people who do remember before jumping on the bandwagon?
